Elit Gonzalez is currently the Associate Director in Health Information Management for the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center with over 20 years of leadership and project management experience in the HIM field. In addition to her position at MD Anderson, she has been an adjunct professor for 6+ years at Houston Community College and more recently Midland College, teaching various courses like Medical Terminology, Healthcare Statistics, Quality Assessment and Performance, Strategic Planning and Leadership and Healthcare Operations Management in HIM and Health Services Management. Elit enjoys teaching the next generation of HIT, HIM and HSM students.

Elit earned her AAS in HIT from Houston Community College, a BS in Health Information Management from the University of Cincinnati, SCL and an MBA from Texas Woman’s University, SCL. She is also a published author of a chapter on Health Information Management in the book Leading Ancillary and Support Departments to Higher Performance by Frank R. Tortorella. Elit has been a long-time member of AHIMA, TxHIMA and HIMSS and a mentor for anyone who wants to go into the HIM field.
