Velma Perales-Diaz, MHA, RHIA

Velma Perales-Diaz is an accomplished healthcare executive serving as Executive Director of Health Information Management at University Health in San Antonio Texas, with over 20 years’ experience in health information management. She brings a strong background of operational leadership, regulatory compliance, and health data management within a complex healthcare environment.

Velma holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of the Incarnate Word, a bachelor’s degree in health information management from Texas State University, and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and has further advanced her leadership expertise through completion of a fellowship program with America’s Essential Hospitals.

In addition to her professional role, Velma actively contributes to the development of future health information management leaders as an advisory board member for Texas State University, St. Phillips College, and Parker University. She is also a member of the daughters of the Republic of Texas, reflecting her commitment to community and legacy.

Velma is known for her vision, collaborative leadership style, and dedication to advancing quality in patient-centered care.
